Novena for the Consecration of the world to the Immaculate Heart of Mary

On October 13th Pope Francis is going to consecrate the world to the Immaculate Heart of Mary! In preparation for that many Catholics are coming together and praying a novena to the Immaculate Heart of Mary which begins October 4th.

A wonderful website makes it easy to join in and pray together. Visit the Pray More Novenas website, sign up and they’ll send you an email with the novena prayer everyday of the novena. So far  63,197 people have already signed up to pray this novena! What an exciting way to pray and prepare as a universal church for this incredible consecration to our Mother.

Total Consecration to Jesus through Mary

I’ve been tweeting and posting on facebook for the last month about how I’m renewing my Total Consecration to Jesus through Mary. I renew it once a year and it is an incredible journey deepening my relationship with Christ and his Mother every time. The first time around was profoundly life changing and with every renewal it continues to be.

I can’t encourage people to make this beautiful consecration enough! For some people the effects aren’t dramatic or immediate but I’ve never met someone who wasn’t in someway changed or moved by making this consecration.

The most common way to make the consecration is the Preparation for Total Consecration according to Saint Louis Marie de Montfort.

Fish Eaters offers St. Louis de Montfort’s preparation for Consecration online  It also gives some great information about making the consecration.

A new guide for making your Total Consecration is with a book called 33 Days to Morning Glory by Fr. Michael Gaitley who I had the pleasure of meeting and going to confession with (it was one of the most incredible experiences of confession I’ve ever had) last month at the Catholic Family Conference in Ontario, California where we were both speakers. In this book Fr. Michael includes writings and marian devotions from St. Louis de Montfort, St. Maximilian Kolbe, Blessed Mother Teresa of Calcutta, and Blessed Pope John Paul II…. all who had enviable (in a holy way) devotions to Our Blessed Mother!

The most popular date to make your Total Consecration is March 25th, the feast of the Annunciation. But there are several marian feast days that you can choose to make your consecration day. If you want to start immediately you can begin today: Tuesday, August 13th, 2013 and make your consecration September 15th, the feast of Our Lady of Sorrows.

If you scroll down on this website to Step 2, Choose a day for the Consecration you’ll find a chart with different dates to start and what marian feast they end on.

A couple weeks ago at a Mass and meeting for Catholic artists in the entertainment industry Fr. Don Woznicki offered to help guide artist’s wanting to make their Total Consecration to Jesus through Mary using the book 33 Days to Morning Glory. Fr. Don will begin the next Total Consecration preparation on September 2nd with the consecration taking place on October 7th the feast of Our Lady of the Rosary (my name day!) If you’re an artist in the entertainment industry and are interested in taking Fr. Don up on his generous offer you can contact him at frdon [at] new-ethos [dot] org

Feast of Our Lady of the Rosary

Happy feast day! Today we celebrate Our Lady of the Rosary  (Who I’m named for!)

“The greatest method of praying is to pray the Rosary.” -Saint Francis de Sales

“Never will anyone who says his Rosary every day be led astray. This is a statement that I would gladly sign with my blood.” -Saint Louis de Montfort

“The Rosary is a treasure of graces.” -Pope Paul V

“The Rosary is THE WEAPON.” -St. Pio of Pietrelcina

“The Rosary is the scourge of the devil.” -Pope Adrian VI

“The Rosary is the most powerful weapon to touch the Heart of Jesus, Our Redeemer, who so loves His Mother.” -St. Louis de Montfort

Approaching the Third Year Anniversary of the Shooting

Three years ago on June 25th I sent out an email asking my friends and family to join me in praying a novena to the Infant Jesus of Prague for three special intentions. In the midst of us praying the novena the shooting occurred. My family and I believe that because of the power of this novena, many friends already praying on my behalf and Our Lady of Guadalupe by my side, my life was spared.
I would like to ask you to join me once again in praying this novena as we approach the third year anniversary of the shooting. Beginning today, Thursday June 21st – Friday June 29th (the 3rd year anniversary). This time I’m adding an extra intention (h/t Paige Rees) so there are four intentions.
My four intentions are:
1. In thanksgiving for the gift of my life and my full recovery
2. For the conversion of April (the woman who shot me) and everyone who hears this miraculous story that they may come to know and experience the incredible Love, Mercy and Forgiveness of our Lord Jesus Christ in their lives.
3. For provision (financial, work & spiritual) in my life as I move forward and continue the healing process.
 4. For the intentions of those who are praying this novena together
Novena Prayer to the Miraculous Infant of Prague

Dearest Jesus, Little Infant of Prague, how tenderly You love us! Your greatest joy is to dwell among us and to bestow Your blessing upon us. Though I am not worthy that You should help me, I feel drawn to You by love because You are kind and merciful.

So many who turned to You with confidence have received graces and had their petitions granted. Behold me as I come before You to lay open my heart to You with its prayers and hopes. I present to You especially this request, which I enclose in Your loving Heart: (Mention your request – 1. In thanksgiving for the gift of my life and for my full recovery 2. For the conversion of April (the woman who shot me) and for everyone who hears this miraculous story that they may come to know and experience the incredible Love, Mercy and Forgiveness of our Lord Jesus Christ in their lives. 3. For provision (financial, work & spiritual) in my life as I move forward and continue the healing process.  4. For the intentions of those who are praying this novena together.).

Rule over me, dear Infant Jesus, and do with me and mine according to Your Holy Will, for I know that in Your Divine Wisdom and Love You will arrange everything for the best. Do not withdraw Your hand from me, but protect and bless me forever.

I pray You, all-powerful and gracious Infant Jesus, for the sake of Your Sacred Infancy, in the Name of Your Blessed Mother Mary who cared for You with such tenderness, and by the greatest reverence with which Saint Joseph carried You in his arms, help me in my needs. Make me truly happy with You, dearest Infant, in time and in eternity, and I shall thank You forever with all my heart. Amen.

Thank you for your incredible support. I truly appreciate it more then words can say! With love and blessings! XO

After the rain…

Posted by Cecilia

Dear friends, Sorry to leave you hanging on the whole kidney stone/heart thing. Thank you for all of your prayers! Rosario and Dad come out of their respective health concerns free of life-threatening complications. (Thus the slight delay in passing along the info.)

We’ll start with an update on Dad: The heart catheter showed absolutely no blockage, to our great relief. They still aren’t sure what is causing his chest pains, but Dad thinks it could be a hiatal hernia. Apparently several of Dad’s family members have suffered from this particular type of hernia and reported very similar symptoms to what Dad experienced. He has yet to verify his suspicions with the doctor, since it’s not as life-threatening as a heart attack. He is doing well and very grateful that he didn’t have to spend any more time in the hospital, where he was bored out of his mind as he had nothing interesting to read.

If you remember, Rosario was concerned about another kidney stone interfering with her attendance at an event in New Jersey where she was scheduled to share her story. Thanks to your prayers, she was able to keep the pain at a manageable level, and she made it to the event. Rosario’s story of forgiveness ended up being paramount to the retreat. It had an amazing impact on the young people that heard her speak. She still had pain throughout the weekend, and it finally subsided that Sunday evening.

Thank you again for all your continued prayers.

When it rains…

Posted by Cecilia

You know how the saying goes and it is pouring on the Rodriguez-Schwartz household!

Our dad was admitted to the hospital on Sunday with chest pains.  Tests were inconclusive as to the cause, but there was some evidence of some blockage.  So he is scheduled for a heart catheter on Thursday.  If there is blockage, a stent will be put in.  Dad has to go in tomorrow to test the coumadin level in his blood stream.  If his blood is too thin, they won’t be able to proceed with heart catheter.  Please pray that his blood will be thick enough to perform the test on Thursday so we can find the cause of the chest pains.

Last month, Rosario spent over two weeks suffering from kidney stones.  We were under the impression that there were no more stones left in her system.  But today she started feeling pain in her left kidney.  It was dull at first, but soon escalated.  Rosario is still in New Jersey.  She and Angelica were supposed to go home this week, but Rosario was asked to share her story at a retreat this weekend and at another event the following weekend.  Pray that the stone will pass quickly so Rosario will be able to attend this weekend’s event.  This is an extremely frustrating time for her, as she was looking forward to these opportunities.

We really believe as a family that these kidney stones are a spiritual battle.  Please pray for protection, strength and healing for Rosario and our family.

**UPDATE Wed 1:00pm – Thank you all for your prayers! As of now the pain has lessened and I only have tinges of pain. I have no idea if the stone has passed or if it’s just not moving. But I’m praying/begging God that it has passed and that I can recover and be present to minister to these hurting inner-city girls at the retreat this weekend.

It seems every time I have an opportunity to share my miraculous testimony I end up with kidney stones or in extreme pain. I called my dad very frustrated last night and he reminded me that God is bigger then a bullet, He’s bigger then kidney stones, He’s bigger then heart problems, He’s bigger then satan and He WILL WIN!

God is Sovereign!

**UPDATE Wed 9:05pm – I was feeling A LOT better all day. Almost pain free so thought I’d passed it but then 5pm and PAIN!!! Have  been having pangs of pain all evening. Praying this ends asap… like I mentioned above, I have tons to do here in NYC! ~RR

So much to post, so far behind!

There’s tons to blog about and update you on and I promise I will be posting soon! If you follow me on twitter and facebook I’m sure you’d like to hear the details of running in my first race since I was shot. Plus I have exciting news about my cousin Ronn (second n is silent 😉 ) who’s discerning with the Benedictine monks at St. Andrew’s Abbey. There’s also my 60 year old mom who just ran her first marathon!!! Incredible! No worries…. I’ll be posting all the fun and exciting details soon!

As for some serious news… the sentencing hearing is continued to June 6 where the defense will continue their request for a new trial. If their appeal is denied then the defendant will be sentenced. With the 2 year mark right around the corner I’m pretty anxious to move on and let justice be served. I’m asking for prayers for God’s peace that I can accept whatever His will is and whatever the outcome may be. Obviously I’m not a fan of going through the entire trial process and testifying to a jury trial all over again but if that’s what needs to happen then I’ll definitely do it.

I seriously have no idea how I could have gotten through all of this without your prayers and support! Know that I experience an incredible amount of God’s grace, peace and joy because of your prayers. And also know that I pray everyday for all those who are praying for me!

God is Sovereign!

Divine Mercy Sunday

Jesus, I trust in you! Holy God, Holy Mighty One, Holy Immortal One; Have mercy on us and on the whole world!

You expired, Jesus, but the source of life gushed forth for souls, and the ocean of mercy opened up for the whole world. O Fount of Life, unfathomable Divine Mercy, envelop the whole world and empty Yourself out upon us.

O Blood and Water, which gushed forth from the Heart of Jesus as a fountain of Mercy for us, I trust in You!
